With some exceptions, most challenges place no limit on the number of Brimstone Cards that can be placed in any section of the player's deck, allowing the player to challenge themselves as much as possible. This is my list of converted Realms deities using the Gods and Magic extended format. While there are usually strict limitations on the number of Platinum Cards that can be included, the opposite is true here. Their appearance will also be drastically altered, being colored black with glowing red lines, giving them an overall fiery aesthetic. Inside of combat, Brimstone enemies are far stronger than their normal counterparts. They usually take the form of encounters, equipment, and enemy units, though there are also some Brimstone Pain Cards and Special Items as well.īrimstone Monster Cards will have the same reflective coloring, but otherwise the illustrations are unchanged. Where Platinum Cards provide great benefits to the player, Brimstone Cards are designed to be far more difficult to overcome, or are just very harmful in nature. Like their counterparts, Brimstone Cards are identified by their highly reflective illustrations, though in their case, the illustration is a red-orange color, making the card look like it's on fire. Very rarely, there can also be Platinum Gain Cards as well, such as in The High Priestess, which can be the player's first exposure to this type of card, if the main challenges are played in sequential order (or The Empress, if they are not).īecause of their highly powerful nature, most challenges place strict limits on how many of them can be included in each section of the deck, usually a number between 1 and 3, if they are allowed at all. These cards are extremely powerful, and will provide the player with much higher rewards and benefits than normal cards would, and usually take the form of equipment, encounters, supplies, or companions. Platinum Cards are identified by the reflective illustrations, which are silvery-blue in color and give the card a distinct glow. The number of cards of either type that can be used at any given time (a separate restriction form the total number of cards that can be put in the player's deck) will vary from challenge to challenge, though often there are either very strict limits, or no limits at all.Īn example of a Platinum Card: Elder's Gift They are distinct from the usual types of cards in both appearance, and in function. Platinum and Brimstone Cards are a new feature of Hand of Fate 2.
